In a nutshell, what do you do?
I work within Outreach and support care leavers in building their independent living skills
What appealed to you most about joining hyh?
hyh have a great reputation within their sector so they were the obvious choice when I was looking to work within the local charity sector , the work they do and the approach taken by them is truly inspiring
What is the most challenging part about what you do?
I think for me it’s the point where you have to let go and set boundaries with young people. We have to do this to protect hyh, ourselves and the young person we are working with it can be tough sometimes.
What is the most rewarding thing?
Seeing a young person become more independent, the progress you see them make is so rewarding
What do you hope to achieve whilst working at hyh?
I hope to help as many young people set up their first homes successfully as I can, I also want my clients to feel supported and give them the assurance that there are people who genuinely want them to do well and feel happy. Lots of the young people I meet say they are surviving day to day … I hope to help them start living their lives …not just surviving.
