In a nutshell, what do you do?

I work closely with the mediation team and at times the hub to support the young people aged 10-18 to assess their unmet needs regarding diagnosed and undiagnosed mental health. This can include other areas such as substance abuse and any other difficulties. My aim is to help improve their mental health and wellbeing with their families to prevent family breakdowns and homelessness.

What appealed to you the most about joing hyh?

Being able to contribute to preventing the homelessness and mental health of the young people. Seeing these changes within the young people’s lives and knowing that I was able to help with that change is what appealed to me to work for HYH.

What is the most challenging part of what you do?

The most challenging part of the job would be to help the young people and their families communicate together, due to all the different viewpoints and opinions they have.

What is the most rewarding thing?

The most rewarding part of my job would be seeing the changes within the young people, their situations, and their families. Knowing that I was able to help overcome these difficult times and obstacles.

What do you hope to achieve whilst working at hyh?

I hope to achieve more knowledge and training within myself but also achieving to change the people I work with lives in a positive manner with the different strategies and coping techniques.
