Meet Our Team

Maureen

In a nutshell, what do you do?

I’m responsible for managing, developing, and evaluating the corporate fundraising strategy for hyh. My role involves managing the relationships between hyh and local businesses, working with them to develop ways in which they can support hyh, i.e., through fundraising, sponsorship, skill sharing or volunteering.  I also develop longer term partnerships with businesses who want to support hyh on an ongoing basis, ensuring that I provide the best supporter care journey possible, so that they never want to leave.

What appealed to you most about joining hyh?

I moved into the charity sector in 2015, as I wanted to do something to help others as a career rather than just volunteer for charities in my spare time. I also felt that my background of working in large commercial companies in relationship management would benefit hyh. And thirdly, I wanted to support a local charity that supports local people. So, this role was a perfect fit!

What is the most challenging part of what you do?

Continually finding new corporate supporters can be a challenge. Especially as there are so many wonderful causes, and it can be difficult to make hyh stand out from the crowd. But I enjoy a challenge and I really like meeting new people.

What is the most rewarding thing?

The best thing about my job is meeting supporters & developing a partnership with them. Its lovely when we can show our corporate partners the positive impact their help has on the young people we support.

What do you hope to achieve whilst working at hyh?

To continue to raise more awareness of youth homelessness in Hertfordshire and hopefully increase the support we receive from our corporate supporters so that we can help even more young people.
