Future Roots Growing Stronger, Together
Our Mission
At Future Roots, we provide safe and affordable supported housing for young people aged 18–24. We help them grow in confidence and independence through personalised support, practical life skills, and a caring community.
Why We Exist
Youth homelessness is a growing challenge. Every year, our advice line hears from hundreds of young people aged 18+ who are facing life without a stable home.
Future Roots provides a stepping stone for young people to move from homelessness toward confident, independent living.
The Accommodation

In partnership with Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, we transformed a 5 bedroom house into more than just a place to live. It’s a place that young people describe as ‘home’ and ‘safe’
Our newest project is based in a privately rented property in Hatfield. This 7 bedroom house is being transformed by McConnells, with help from Conex Construction Experts.
Our Approach
Future Roots isn't just accommodation, it's a community.
We ask our housemates to actively engage in:
- Weekly house meetings
- One-to-one support sessions
- Caring and maintaining the house
Support is tailored to each individual, with goals created together. The ultimate aim? Moving on to secure, independent housing in the private rented sector.
When they’re ready, housemates can apply for a "Friends of hyh" grant to help cover a deposit and first month’s rent.
Who We Support
To be eligible for Future Roots, applicants must:
- Be aged 18–24
