Hertfordshire – Herts Young Homeless (hyh) has been awarded a significant £120,000 grant from The Julia Rausing Trust to prevent homelessness by supporting hundreds of young people through its prevention services.
Herts Young Homeless has been supporting vulnerable young people across Hertfordshire since 1998. This new funding will allow the charity to deliver its Home2030 strategy over the next three years through four key programmes:
1. Prevent more under 18s from becoming homeless
2. Prevent more 18-25s from becoming homeless
3. De-stigmatise youth homelessness
4. Stronger collaborative partnerships across Hertfordshire to ensure that young people receive the right support at the right time.
Simon Fourmy, Chief Executive of The Julia Rausing Trust said ‘“Julia was passionate about helping people facing disadvantage and believed that timely support could help someone move out of crisis and change the course of their life. That is why tackling youth homelessness is an important priority for The Julia Rausing Trust. HYH's integrated approach of education, mediation, emergency support and supported accommodation has a significant impact in helping young people in crisis’.
Jonny Whitehead, CEO of Herts Young Homeless said "We are absolutely thrilled to receive this generous support from The Julia Rausing Trust. We firmly believe that youth homelessness is preventable. Every day, our highly skilled and dedicated staff work alongside vulnerable young people across Hertfordshire, helping them to build brighter futures, secure safe accommodation, and develop the confidence and resilience they need to thrive. This funding will enable us to continue providing vital services to young people at a critical point in their lives, ensuring they receive the support they need to avoid homelessness and reach their full potential.’
